Scott West’s

I was born in San Marcos, TX, and raised in Lockhart, where I  graduated, following in the footsteps of my parents. With a lifelong passion for athletics, sports, and adventure, I joined the Marine Corps shortly after graduating high school. It was during my service that I was introduced to jiu-jitsu.

I trained for one year with a team in Oceanside, CA, led by Professor Charlie Grant, a Chris Haueter black belt. During the early stages of my jiu-jitsu journey, I returned home to Lockhart, where my path and passion became one. Jiu-jitsu has become a central part of my family life—my wife, brother-in-law, and father-in-law all train.

I am privileged to have trained and studied jiu-jitsu for a little over six years under some of the best in the sport, including World and Pan champions in both gi and no-gi. My fascination with the concepts and mechanics that make techniques effective has led to a deep passion for teaching and sharing the art with students of all levels. I am currently a purple belt under Professors Steven Koenig and Jean “Dalua” Cartagena.
